Biography:

Adrian Flannelly has been a fixture in radio broadcasting to the Irish-American community for 38 years. Born in Attymass (Ballina) Co. Mayo, he emigrated to the United States in 1959 at age seventeen. Adrian is a member of one of New York's prominent political families. His uncle, the legendary Paul O'Dwyer was the renowned civil rights activist and former City Council president, who later served as New York City Commissioner to the United Nations. Another uncle, William O'Dwyer was Mayor of New York from 1945 to 1950 and was appointed Ambassador to Mexico by President Harry S Truman.

A journalist, marketing communications specialist and entertainer, Adrian has been a regular visitor to the homes of Americans since 1970. His programs present a platform for discussion of the crucial issues affecting Ireland and the United States while exploring cultural social and historic links. Guests who have appeared on the shows over the years include- US Presidents Clinton, Bush, Reagan and Carter –Entertainers The Clancy’s, Chieftains, U2, and The Corrs -Actors Liam Neeson, Carroll O'Connor, Roma Downey -writers Dominick Dunne, Frank McCourt, Mary Higgins Clarke - Irish Presidents McAleese and Robinson -Governors Pataki, Cuomo and Carey - Mayors Bloomberg, Giuliani, Dinkins and Koch, Senators Clinton, D’Amato Mitchell and Kennedy. In the forefront of efforts to help Irish immigrants, Adrian has used his unique programs to update listeners on Northern Ireland issues and as a conduit for reforming U S visa lotteries and immigration laws. He ensured legalization for countless undocumented Irish through the Donnelly and Morrison visa Programs in the late 1980s by personally arranging the transportation of hundreds of thousands of visa applications to Washington DC.

- Appointed by Governor Pataki as Irish Cultural Liaison to Battery Park City Irish Hunger Memorial 2002
- Co-Founder (1985) of Project Irish Outreach (Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New York) appointed by His Eminence John Cardinal O'Connor
- Founder member Board of Directors Ireland Chamber of Commerce USA
- Member of the Board of Governors Piux XII Foundation Inc.
- Founding Board Member of the Irish Repertory Theatre, New York City
- Irish Liaison to New York City Hall under Mayors Edward Koch and Rudolph Giuliani. He currently serves as Irish issues advisor to Mayor Mike Bloomberg.
